Organized sports don't always help you manage your time"I was a baseball star in middle and high school. I played for the varsity team since freshman year and practiced at school every day. I also played on a club team to get extra practice. Baseball was making me feel healthy, but it was also causing a great deal of stress. You know how people say sports are good in high school because they force you to manage your time? Don't always believe that. When I wasn't playing baseball, I was trying to do my homework. I say 'trying' because I often didn't get anything done. I spent much of that time worrying and thinking about how little time I had. It's much better to have extra time and practice time management on your own, than to spend huge amounts of time on outside activities that supposedly will help you organize your time better. I had fun, but most of the time, the fun wasn't worth it." |
